Flyin' High With Air Zonk! By Windancer

Air Zonk! This game couldn't be any good! it's just a lousy Turbo Chip! Wrong! This game is not only good, It's great! From the opening of the game you feel a rush over you from the fantastic graphics, to the great chip music which matches up perfectly with the game. Game play isn't so bad either! There are 3 difficulty settings to choose from for you crazy wildcats out there.

Graphics are just awesome. You will view small sprites and large that are very well done and colorful. There are scrolling backgrounds on each stage that just look amazing. They really put some hard work in on this game as you don't feel that they even recycled the graphics as you go through the game. Different enemy sprites at every turn, just a gorgeous game.

Sounds and music are pretty top notch too. Although I must say the music in the game does feel recycled at times. They use the same tunes for boss fights but it didn't annoy me in the least. Sound effects are very well done although hard to hear over the music. Seems to me that they may have upped the music a bit to maybe cover the sound effects. Good stuff though!

Game play is spot on. The right amount of speed for Zonk. The game is just smooth all the way through and with most shooters you feel as though you took some cheap hits. My opinion is there are no cheap hits in Air Zonk. If you do get hit, You'll be saying, "why the hell did I do that" or "I know better than that". There are a multitude of power-ups that range from heat seeking missiles to a giant boxing glove. At times there is some slight slow down but it doesn't really effect the game play.

If you are TG16 owner and do not own Air Zonk, you better get your butt out there and get yourself a copy! Cause this one ladies and gentlemen is a must own. I have seen it go on ebay pretty high. Even a loose chip will really lighten the load on your Wallet. Keep your eyes peeled though you never know when that last minute bid will get you a deal! Or you can download it for the Wii and play it on Virtual Console. Until Nextime, "spread the Joy of PCEngine"
